    Do you mean Detailing Clay??

These are generally used in the detailing, automotive reconditioning and auto body shop professions to remove paint over spray, tree sap and industrial fallout from the cars painted surfaces. It also works on glass, plastics and many metals.

Despite what some people may say, just remember that clay is abrasive, doesn't matter what brand you use (they are all abrasive to a degree, just some add more abrasives than others), but in the end there is little to no risk of you doing any damage to your vehicle using a clay bar.

    Hope that helps.

Well...wash your car and once its all dry and clean, run your finger down your bodywork.

Does it feel like glass or sand paper?

If it feels like sandpaper, you car needs to be clayed!!

Clay is a plastacene-like ball that you flat out in the palm of your hand and lube it up with some detaling spray. Once the clay is flat and lubed up, spray the body work with detailing spray too. Once you are sure the bodywork and the clay is well lubed up, rub the bodywork with this clay in an up and down motion or left and right motion with moderate pressure. Keep doing it till the clay slips around on the bodywork and requires no effort to move around on the car. When it slides around on its own, that means the bodywork is done. Work panel by panel to ensure you cover everything and the bodywork dont dry up (in this weather it wont dry up anyway!). Make sure you check the clay for contaminents (black bits in the clay thats been picked up of the bodywork). If the clay goes black, roll the clay into a ball and break it up and reshape it to get a clean surface again. NEVER DROP THE CLAY ON THE FLOOR! If you do, replace it as you may scratch your paintwork with the debris off the floor.

Clay cleans of contaminents on your bodywork that normal polishing, washing and waxing cannot take off. It makes the bodywork as smooth as glass!!

Trust me claying is one of the most satisfying things I do to my car as the results are unbelievable!!

    Hope this helps!

I use the mequiars clay kit, that worked really well for me. This kit includes the clay bar (50g) and a detailing spray. It costs £14.99 from Halfords.
