    hi guys
i started to refurb my BBS RC041 wheels last night.
i split them then started to nitromox (paint striper) the wheels, god it tuck some elbow grease the get the paint off.
im going to polish rims edge and then powder coat the centers. iv taken some pics so when i get it finished il post a thread on what i did.

The problem is i tuck my centers the shot blasters, but because the paint is that good and thick the shot dident even touch it, just dulled it off.

so i need some advice on how to remove the old paint of centers?

someone said to mix caustic sodium with some wallpaper past???
and soak them to soften them and then have another go with shot.

    has anyone got any sugestions????
    anything would be good

    alright coddy
id of thought acid dipping them would certainly remove the paint thats what the professionals would do although i cant understand that shot blasting never touched the paint have you tried having them sand blasted

have a chat with whoever is going to do your sand blasting
there are different grades of sand and you need quite a fine one for doing alloy
i had my centers sandblasted a while back and the guy must have used quite a rough grade as there was bad pitting left all over the wheel centers, i ended up having to use a fair whack of filler primer before i painted them to smooth them off
are you going to paint the centers or have them powder coated?

Shot blasting should have removed the paint if the right medium is used but on alloys its not recommended like Disco said it will leave it looking like the moon. Best to use nitromorse on it or go the cheap version and buy 2 x 5Litre bottles of paint thinners (£6 each) and empty it into a container and leave the wheel(s) in there and let it work in before scraping off.

Personally I'd look up someone who could acid dip them

the guy who is doing the shot blasting use real fine stuff. hes done some before for me and thay came out realy smooth. i had a set done about 2 years ago by someone else and thay came out pitted.

anyway iv mixed 2g of caustic soda with 4x bags of wallpaper past (to give a texture like nitromorse) mixed it with about 30liters of water to weaken it.

i mixed it in a dust bin witch was plastic lol, when i first mixed it there was so much heat that came off it, i thought it was going to catch fire. it started to send the plastic bin all wappey. it was ok when it calmd down. iv had the center in for about 4 hours now and the paint is starting to go soft, so its looking good
