Hi, I thought I'd drop the hood today on my vert - what a mistake !!!

A small hole has turned I to a 6" crack so if it rains in knackered :(

I found this thread telling me how to replace it

    http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/...cement-t60006/

What I'd liketo know is how much is a screen and where is the best place to get one and is it as easy to fit as the thread suggests.

I'm gutted as if I can't fix it by Saturday I can't go to the midlands meet :(

    Just what I needed ???

I seem to recall you can pick rear screens up for around the £130 region online.

£130, thats not so bad - I've found a place that will fit one for £160 or a bit more if stitching is required so thats not bad.

The £160 one says the screen has a green tint, is that normal (I dont know as mine has always looked hazy ).

    http://www.softtops.org.uk/

I rang BMW and they want £340 for just the screen plus fitting on top

Is there anything I should look out for on a non-genuine one as the above link one looks like a decent deal ?

some of the screen are zipped in and some are sitched in, you need to check which one yours has, also they are a right pig to fix, i would say around £160 is the going rate and the green tint is normal

    good luck

He unzipped my original window and undid the stitching, Then stitched my zip into a brand new screen, Only took him an hour, And i watched him do it. I was really impressed.

Thanks The price looked great but its good to have the comfort from the experts on here

I can't believe it cracked today was a warm day (relatively) and I was waiting for a suitable day to open it - best get the gaffer tape out in the mean time marvellous, just in time for the meet

You should try opening it when its icy, The screen turns solid and just shatters. I will definatly use this bloke again if this one ever splits.
