    Hello,
Can anyone help. I want to replace the tired wing mirror covers on my BMW 318 ti compact 1997 with some nice chrome ones. However I'm not sure how to get the covers off. I'm a bit nervous about attacking them with a butter knife in case I damage the fittings.

Please excuse this newbie question. I would really appreciate some help.

    Cheers!

IIRC they are the same as saloon. You have to GENTLY prize out the mirror glass and you will see 4 phillips screws holding the mirror cover onto the mirror unit....

    Thanks Steve,
Any tips on how or where to prize out the mirror glass or how to re-fit it when finished?
As you will see this is all new to me so I really appreciate the advice.

Just gently use 2 large flat bladed screwdrivers to lever the glass out of the mirror. But be careful not to crack the mirror glass...
    Light pressure only is needed....
