Hi I had a towbar fitted to my girlfriends 316i compact but it was written off yesterday. I want to remove the tow bar and get it put on to my 318ti compact.

Can someone please help with how to do this. I'm crap with cars i need to get the rear bumper off but not sure how to. Is it then just a matter of unscrewing the towbar?

How do i disconnect the electrics.
the insurance company will be coming to collect the 316 any day now so i best hurry =0D

    Thanks

To remove the rear bumper, get under the car on either side, by the spare wheel and backbox theres 2 torx screws. there long so take a while to unthread, once there off just slide the bumper off.

I take it the insurance doesn't know about the tow bar? I know how stupid this sounds but an old boss had his pick up written off and when the insurance came to pick it up they refused to take it until the tow bar was back on!!! Very eagle eyed and very picky!

they still haven't taken it but hopefully i won't be as unlucky but thanks for the heads up.

Quick question. I have a torque screwdriver but i can't find the bit size i need it's T45 does anyone know where i can get one? i have tried halfords and hardware shops but no luck.

I got a set op tork that are like a set of alun keys that has the right size (T45) but because of what i need to unscrew they are no good i can't get any leverage on it.

Any ideas where i can get a decent bit set?

Did you get this sorted. I'm interested in putting a towbar on my compact. How easy was it to put on.
