Hi Guys, I clayed for the 1st time today, I 1st washed with Meguiars Hyper wash with a super wash hose end sprayer, (good job)
Should I pre wash with some other poduct, if so what sort?
I need advice on how often you need to replace the clay bar? I used a Meguiars quick clay kit with a 50g clay, the clay is now very dirty after doing just the bonnet & boot!

Also, I know it has been asked before, but what wax / polish should should I use after claying? I got a polisher from halfords (bog standard) to use, but not sure if I should use it to put polish on or take off with?

Still very new to this cleaning lark, I though a bucket of soapy water & sponge was ok, but I have learnt a lot from reading these threads!!

Sorry for all the questions, but as I said, still very new to this cleaning!

    Many thanks in advance

    Baz

i think you break up the clay bar when you get it and throw it away once contaminated...as for polishes and waxes..i use carnuba wax..but am no detailer..am sure youll get lots off different advice..i also have the halfords polishing machine..i use it too put the wax on..apply the wax too the pad in an x fashion and press it onto the panel your polishing..covering the panel..then buff it..i emove it using a microfibre cloth..i only wax every 3months or so..and use speed detailer weekly or less if required...like say mate..ther will be many different ways people do things but this way is pretty effective

    Hi Baz,

You can use a PH neutral citrus degreaser as a pre spray to help loosen bugs and traffic film and being PH neutral it will not strip the wax off the paintwork.

As said cut the clay bar with a pair of scissors into managable lumps I usually discard of the clay once its been used but you can hang onto it to use on things like wheels, windows etc. Make sure you use plenty of lube when claying so as you dont marr the paintwork with the clay, I always use megs last touch as its cheap as chips if you buy it in bulk does a great job and lasts well and can be used as a detail spray as well.

    Hope that helps
