I'm trying to remove the driver's door card to fix my window, which seems to have come loose from one of the motors/runners, whatever.

I've already had a look at this thread, but it's slightly different as mine is a Compact.

I've popped all the clips, but there is something still holding the door card on quite firmly behind the top of the door pull, in the area highlighted in red. I've tried giving lifting it and also applying as much force as I feel I can get away with, but it still won't come free.

Anyone know what it is and how to disengage it?

In the area marked red on your drawing, that handle part clips off. just get a flat driver on the under side and then just prize off, once you have removed it there is 2X screws holding door card to door just unscrew them and it off

    hope this helps mate

Have you removed the door pull surround mate? It slides towards the front. Of the car and is quite tight

Pull the switch out, IIRC there's a screw behind it. (been yonks since I removed a compact e36 door card)

    Great, thanks dudes.

Obviously too late to do anything now, but I'll have a crack at that tomorrow and see what happens.
