    Hi all,

I'm a first time BMW owner and I'm eager to spruce the car up. It's seen better days and the first place I'm looking at fixing up is the interior. Below are some pics of the seats. My question is: is it going to be more cost effective to get these repaired or should I just get onto eBay and find some replacements? The door interiors could also do with a fix / replacement.

If the second option is the way to go then how hard is it to replace seats? I'm a computer engineer, not a mechanic but I am willing to get in there and DIY.

    Thanks

That's what I was thinking, they look a little bit too far gone to spend money on a repair. is it relatively straightforward replacing seats?

Normally just a few bolts and plugs if they are electric (disconnect battery for peace of mind)

Easy peasy mate 8 bolts under front seats an they lift out there's a plug to undo under them as well yellow and black can't miss it and the back seats the bottom lifts up n pulls out n top just pulls of as well with a good tug! eBay leathers a fairly cheap and cloth even cheaper but get black it's nicer

One more question. Do I have to have the exact type when looking for seats? For example will a 325 seat fit my 316?

as long as the seats are out of the same shape they will fit,
like all e36 4 door saloon seats are the same and will fit any other e36 4 door saloon
same goes for coupe and so on.

all front seats fit it only the rears that are different.
