    Hi all,

I'm just messaging to find out what light passes through the front windows in standard form, the legal side of it states you can have a 30% tint on the front windows so 70% or more light has to get through so I'm looking at using the same tint all round but I dont know how tinted the glass is as standard, can anyone let me know, I'm looking at getting wither 15% or 20% film as I'm guessing the standard will be near 10%...

    thanks
    Cheers, Jay

I don't think you can tint the fronts at all if they are tinted from the factory it puts them over. I had the lightest tint on the front windows of my Civic type r and never got any problems.

reason being that factory tints can be up to 30% themselves, I'm pretty sure the standard green tint isnt thoguh so I could probably get away with a 15% smoke is what I'm thinking, I had front window tints on my 306 and again never had any problems and I loved having the tints, I've had two cars since then and none of them have had tints on the front and now as i'm styling the bmw green and gray it makes sense to add a bit of tint to the front windows, being a more presteige car it's less likely to attract too much attention unless I drive it like a complete numpty, which I dont.
    Cheers, Jay

as far as the tints are concernd i was a tint place not so long back for my dads car to be done and he told me i could get away with his lightest tint just. he tried a peice up and you couldnt even tell it was tinted so i assume we carnt have much legaly

as for attention the police round my way just hate tints and have a thing for stopping and searching my car. 4 times in 5 month is doing my nut in.

no your allowed up to 30% total on the fronts, thats not standard windows and a 30% film its including the standard tint whatever it may be, which is waht I was trying to find out and still have not.

I was planning on a dark smoke on the back as I definately don't want limo black, cos it's not a limo, just want some shade really, same reason for wanting 30% on the fronts.

i window tint cars part time and the tint i get is from autoshades and they do lots of shades. legally you could have lightest smoke on front wiv the factory tint, however light smoke is alot nicer and look good all the way around light smoke is more of a mid smoke, but alot lighter than dark smoke. ive put light smoke on the front of lots of cars and never had problem and m.o.t's are fine with it. but if you want 100% legal go with lightest smoke.
