First of all, I don't have any pictures of the seemingly countless rust-spots on the car, but I'll try and get some later to show.

Most of them are relatively small, so not hugely problematic, but big enough to notice when looking at the car.

The car's also got some pretty weird stuff going on in the bonnet region, which looks like someone held a naked flame against it - Laquer peeled the set in a sort-of brown colour.

There's also two or three small dents which I've noticed recently - hard to spot, but now I know they're there it's impossible not to!

Generally, I'm looking to take it to a body-shop to get them to sort it all out for me. I don't know what it would entail, though - so I'm asking some advice so I get ripped off as little as possible.

Fortunately, a Muay Thai friend is a body sprayer and has told me a couple of tips which will help me save a few hundred at the garage he works for. I can't remember what it is he told me, and he's also Portuguese - his English is not so good at the best of times!!

However, he did offer to do it at my own home as long as I have the right equipment?

Can anyone enlighten me as to what equipment I would need for him to do a good job?

If I take it to a reputable body shop, how much would I really be looking at if I left everything down to their caring hands??

    Here's the pictures:

If he was to do any spraying, he would obviously require an air compressor to spray with. More than likely a sander too as well as a polisher.

Dad owns a 50 litre air compressor, so got that covered. Got a sander too, but are there ones specific to body work that would be required?

    Also, polisher.. Link??

    Another question,

If I were to put the car to a body shop, how long will I be without the motor while it gets done up nice and proper?

Especially with rust spots in various places - a few days, a week, a fortnight? More??

I'd need to know to arrange a cheap run-about!

Are there any adapters required to use a compressor for spraying?

Bashing out a dent and clearing up rust-spots are two different things, really. So difference in cost could mean a mahoosive hole in my pocket!

    I'll look 'em up, though!

it was a tiny dent and scratch well how many are there.. you do realise you will need to get the whole car sprayed in most cases if the rust spots are literally everywhere.. going to be expensive.. 600-800 buck ide say?

It's not all over, but I need the bonnet sorting for sure!

Usual suspects at the bottom corners of the doors, and a spot on the rear off-side - near petrol flap, and a part on the rear under the boot that I've noticed. Small dent in roof above windscreen on drivers side, and small dent somewhere else on the offside.

I'll take pictures and log them all tomorrow, so I know what I'm looking at!
