Hi, As the title says i am thinking of buying a set of 40mm lowering springs for my 1994 E36 320i to improve looks as well as the handling.

I currently have 17" rims with 215/45/17 tyres on, what i want to know is would i get away with 40mm lowering springs without any major problems?.

The front doesn't look a problem but the rear looks as if it could be a little tight.

Also if i fit the 40mm lowering springs would i need to change the shocks also?.
    any help would be good
    cheers....

Dont see it as a problem if your shocks, bumpstops etc are in good nick but in my experience of lowering countless cars in the past it is best to up-rate your shocks or go with coilovers of a good quality rather than cheap rubbish.my old m4 golf turbo was in the weeds and handled like nothing on earth on coilovers but the ride was terrible so in the end went with a simple jamex sports kit of shocks and springs and was miles more comfortable and didnt need to avoid every speedhump in a 25 mile radius.

Cant see any problems with clearance on the rear but i have not done mine yet so others who have might be more of a help as mine was already lowered

40 mm is a nice drop especially if you have a family or passengers but i am sure some people on here will say go way lower and me personally i am gonna do mine 60/40mm drop which suits me to the ground
