Hi all, this is prob a bit of a noob question, but I have looked at respraying my bonnet where the lacquer has peeled off. Some areas are 3-4" diameter!
I've been looking through posts on here, as well as googling, and have a couple of questions:
From what I've found, it seems I need to sand/peel back the lacquer completely (the peeling areas cover most of the bonnet), flat back the basecoat, apply one coat of colour and then lacquer?
I'm not sure what type of paint the original Dolphin Grey is - With the basecoat colour - will it have to be a 2 pack paint? I.e. would a cellulose paint go funny if sprayed over the old paint? Does that make sense?
I could probably get it done cheaper/easier at a bodyshop, but looking to have a bit of fun and learn something! If I fuck it up i'll get it done properly, but as its only a £400 car just fancy having a go first!
I've got access to a compressor and plenty of panels to practise on at work, so will have had a little play before I use my own car.
