does anyone know if it is possible to remove the spare wheel well and weld a plate in place or shorten the depth by a few inchs without any major structural problems.cheers.

The wheel well is not structural

I have thought of doing this on the coupe but at the moment I don't know why I would want to do it as I won't actually be gaining anything

I would like to have the option of using a spare wheel should the time arise so perhaps I'll look into replicating the design of the E36 compact

cheers thought i had better check before i got the grinder out...reason for it is i have just layed me hands on a reiger rear bumper with twin exhaust cut outs , and will be a lot easier to pipe up the exhausts with it out the way .( powerflow wanted £600+++)

600 quid for a bit of pipe that goes around the wheel well

I would chop it out but then I don't have access to a spare anyway
