This is not really a 'How To' so maybe the Mods will move it to a more suitable place

Just thought I'd just bring peoples attention to this tape in case they are not aware of it.

I've used it in work related situations in the past but it has many uses in car DIY.
Self Amalgamating tape looks like a roll of common insulating tape but it's not sticky. When you apply it you stretch it and wrap it around the subject quite tightly. After a few minutes it starts to self amalgamate and after around an hour the whole coverage becomes one piece of rubber.
I used it recently on my son's car to repair a split on a section of a CV boot. Obviously a generous amount was used for that. The CV boot was on long order and was £50

This stuff is great stuff however for the duty it is intended for - insulating electrical connections. it can be applied in a number of layers and remain quite flexible and doesn't come off when wet like insulating tape.

One of the most common problems that comes up on the forum is air leaks on induction pipework. This stuff would be perfect for repairing splits in the pipework and if applied reasonably thickly would last a long time ( I do realise that a new part is always best, but at the end of the day it's just a matter of sealing the leaks).

You can get it cheaper than in the link for 10mm wide tape around £2.50

    Here it is..http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=4099
