Hi Guys, can anyone tell me which way up the battery goes in the key fob? I marked it with a felt tip pen and when I came to fit the new battery I had ribbed the marks off with my sausage fingers - DOH!

    Guys,

Isnt this battery supposed to recharge itself as you drive, so you should never have to change it?

    Dear All,

This worked brilliantly for me. I can now use my 2nd fob to lock/unlock the car. Unfortunately, I can't start the car, it could not start even before changing the battery.

Does anyone know if my fob itself is faulty or do I need to go to a speacilist to reporogramme the fob to start the car?

    Thanks very much.

Was about to change the batteries in my fobs when I tried reprogramming first...

(First key died about 3 months ago and second key died today - 2004 320D ES)

Just a quick message to advise anyone to try reprogramming before they change the batteries and cut open your fob cases.

Reprogramming worked a charm and we're now back to two fully functional keys - thank you to everyone on the forums!!!

(Ps - don't stick your keys in your back pocket - think this is why I keep killing the batteries and loosing the programming!!)

Is this for older cars as on my 2007 e60 the car programs the key automatically when you put it in the slot.
