Hopefully this should contain information on key remote programming.

THIS PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE PROGRAMS THE REMOTE PART OF THE KEY.

ANY TRANSPONDER CHIP FOR THE IMMOBILSER (STARTING OF CAR) WILL NOT BE PROGRAMMED AND MUST BE DONE BY A SPECIALST.

To clarify - is this for the E46 only? If so can we put that in the title?

Just want to add this link for people thinking they will be saving money by buying an ebay or similar key. YOU WON'T BE, IT WILL END UP COSTING MORE UNLESS YOU DON'T WANT TO BE ABLE TO START YOUR CAR

I have a 1996 BMW 316 Compact and the previous owner broke the alarm fob, it's a single button domino style fob. I have repaired the fob and the amber light flashes when I press the button but now I need to reprogram the fob, this is urgent as I cannot use the hazard lights as they won't stop flashing. Please advise what I can do to reset the fob without paying £200 to the alarm guy.

Just wanted to say thanks for this it saved me a small fortune twice, once when buying the spare key and then when getting it coded.
