Ok guy's a nice easy mod to do to your car is a boot release kit, get rid of that nasty chrome lock once and for all
First thing is to purchase one of these universal boot release kits.... LINK
Once you got your kit you will need some extra 1mm single red cable as they dont send out much in there kit. This can be purchased from almost any hardwear store. I'm going to try make this guide as easy as possible starting the instalation from one end of the car and ending it at the other. Also i will pop a ruff wiring guide below for you to refer to during your instalation or durrin reading this.
Ok Stage one of instalation.
Feed the single 1mm red cable threw from the inside of you car to the battery I found there was a small gromet under the glove box area....
Once threw to the battery area connect the 15amp fuse adaptor you get in your kit to the wire and crip a lug on the end of the cable ready to connect to battery later......
Stage two, fishing the cable to the switch.
fish the single cable in the direction shown on the picture making way to wear are switch is going to be located.
We are aiming to get the cable out of one of the blanks located by the cigaret lighter and alarm LED. There should be two or three spare if you haven't used them already. I found while doing this it made things easier to see and get at, with the leather gear gator out the way, this simply clips out of place.
Stage three, connecting the switch
Once you have removed a blank, which once again simple pops in and out of place. drill a small hole in the center of the blanck for your boot release button. Now you have your button atatched to the blank its connection time.
Ok the button will have two connections on it on the one side you need to connect the single cable you have fished threw from your battery and also a new single cable to the same connector long enough to feed back threw to the rear of the car. so there is two cables connected to one side of the switch. We now connect anouther single cable two the other side of the switch on its own also long enough to fish to the rear of the car.
Once connected and your two single cables are now ready for fishing back to the boot pop the blanck/your new switch back into position.
Stage four fishing cables to the boot.
NOTE at this point you should have two single red cables ready to feed back to your boot. I recomend you mark the end of the cable from the battery so which cable is which for when connecting later you dont get these mixed up.
Ok fish both the cables in the direction shown in the pictures, this way it can be hidden under the sill of the interia. best two remove parts of the rear seat, these will pop out with a good pull.
Your notice the route I chose in the last pic has a little hole for you to feed your cable threw already, push loads of your cable threw and its a simple case of having a hunt around in the top left of the boot area near your speaker. Once again fishing the cable in direction shown
pop this rubber grommet out and feed your cable threw the same route as the other cables up towards your boot lid.
Stage five, connecting the relay.
Now were finally at the end of the car we want to be at get you cables to a sutible position in the boot lid and connect to the relay provided in the release kit. (with the kit you receave a conection guide for which cable gose where on the relay its nice and simple
When all your cables are connected to your relay mount your relay in a sutible safe position in the boot lid. there is plent of holes in the boot lid to bolt the relay to and your earths etc, no drilling needed, its great lol.
IMPORTANT when connecting your earth points sand the areas being used for a metal to metal contacked. i earthed just below the realay as seen in pic below.
Stage six, at some point were gunna want rid of that nasty chrome lock.
This is simple two small bolts from the inside of the boot lid are holding it in place. remove them remove your old lock, leaving a gap for wear you'l be fitting your new boot popper.
Stage seven, finishing up with the solinoide.
once you get your solinoide your see how easy it is to mount to the boot lid, its as if there made for each other lol theres a small hole in the boot lid that lines up with a screw hole on the solinoide, perfectly positioning it wear it needs to be.
at this point there is a bit of jigery powkery involved with making the lock bar work with the solinoide, this is hard to explain in words or with pictures, but very easy to do, you'l know how when its all in front of your eyes. Connect to your battery and now your boot popper is working smooth over the hole in your plinth where the lock used to be and your done, so just sit back and enjoy the finished result.
Well thats it Guys & Gals I hope this guide makes it nice and easy for you or has inspired some of you to go threw with this mod, I definatly recomend it looks so much smoother at the rear now and is kinda fun having a button to press when popping the boot lol.
