    Me again NealP,

BMW just called me to say that this cable is only compatible with a front loading cd player. Do you know if this is the case?

Ok, see if your model is one of those listed in the instructions, otherwise I've done a bit of digging around and you will need check your software version for your head unit. To do this, turn radio on, press and hold the "m" button for about 10 seconds, use < or > to navigate. Your software version is in a 'SV xx-xx yy' format. That 'yy' at the end has to be 43 or greater for the cable to work.

Hi, I have done the 10 second M functions and got a SN: XXXXXXX63. But I cannot seem to find an AUX option on my stereo will this activate once the cable has been connected?

I have an 03 E46 with Business CD headunit.

    Thanks
    Nathan

I'm not sure about any auto detect feature, but worth while checking with the dealer before you buy the kit.

Been on the phone to BMW and they also think that the cable will automatically show up the AUX mode once fitted. So my next question is, how does the Audio socket fit the Sound System plug?

    Thanks Neal.
