    Hi NealP

    Have you tried this?

Would love to use my ipod in my car, getting really bored of only having a 6 disc changer.

Yes Truckgirl, I have done this to my car. Although, I wasn't prepared to part with £40 for a BMW cable so I made my own. See HERE

    Cool Cool,

Think i might give it ago this weekend and see if i can do it.

Does the sound distort at all?

Its just when we put a cable in the Mitsi Warrior the sound was not great for some reason.

No interference or noise of any kind as it uses the head unit's filtering. All you do is just set the volume level for the AUX mode. You do have an AUX mode, right?

    Hi NealP,

Came across your thread as i need a new ipod connector (If you remember i was having electrical problems turned out it was the ipod) I have ordered the cable kit from BMW at £40 would i be right in thinking i just need a cable with a ipod connector at one end and 3.5mm jack on the other to play my ipod once i install this cable?

    Thanks.

That's correct M11HRN, ipod to 3.5mm jack lead like THIS. First of all, just make sure your business/professional unit is compatible with the AUX set up as described in the instructions. I have hidden my socket in the sunglass compartment for a tidier look

Thanks NealP ye i'm quite sure that my business unit is the same setup, the connector looks the same and i think this is the one that replaces the cd changer. I Get the lead on Tue' so i'll let you know how i get on. Did you have to drill a hole to get the lead coming out of the sunglasses holder? Last time i just ran it up through the handbrake gaiter so that i could operate the ipod. One last thing do you still have control via steering wheel controls? Last time i could only operate volume hence why i located the ipod next to the handbrake.

    Thanks again.

The sunglass compartment clips out so no problem drilling and fitting the connector first. Your choice wherever you want to put it . You do not get full control on the steering wheel, only volume as you said. If you want the next/prev track and search ability using the wheel, then you will have to invest in a interface lead from Connects2 or similar. However, I must state that the sound is filtered though the unit which makes it much better then these cassette/FM aftermarket adapters.
