Hello all, first post so be kind
I've just bought a 2010 BMW 318i M Sport and it looks like the rear tyres aren't going to last too long, think they will need replacing soon.
I've been shopping around, and have found what I think it is a good price. (Christ run flats are expensive). But this whole speed rating thing is bugging me. National Tyres says I need W rated, done some research and I shouldn't down grade them to V rated ones apparently as I'm going away from manufacturers spec. which has insurance implications.
Checked the car and it has v rated on every corner.
Does this mean that I'm pretty much screwed, i'm assuming that you should't mix different speed ratings on a car. So I've got a couple of choices, replace all of them (don't really want to this as the fronts look new), put my head in the sand and replace like for like or tell the insurance.
Has anyone got experience with speaking to the insurance company? Do I need to speak to them as surely a v rated tyre should be sufficient for 318 BMW shouldn't it?
