My previous car was a 1999 E46 but I haven't sold it yet, I'm still the registered keeper and it is taxed until Apr. I recently read that the law has changed regarding insuring unused cars; that unless the car is decalared SORN, it must be insured at all times. Does this law still apply since I'm keeping my car on private land? This law seems a bit nonsensical as an insurance policy only covers you so long as the car is subject to the RTA, if a car is on private land then the the RTA does not apply to it.
I'm not ready to sell the car yet as I'd like to do a few repairs first and it would cost a bomb to insure it.
