Hi I currently have company insurance but this will end when I leave my current job. My new employers have a car allowance so I am going for a 520d on a 11 plate. I will need to insure the car myself but am having a hard time trying to find an insurer who will transfer the NCB from my previous employers insurance to a private policy..

Any chance we can come up with a list on this thread? I have found one : AXA Insurance, but a choice from a pool of one isn't really a choice now is it ; )

I opted out in 2007. My employer provided me proof of a then 2 years NCB which was recognised by BMW insurance of all people. Similarly A-Plan insurance, try the Newbury branch, have a number of underwriters who will recognise. Prepare for a shock though, but worth it in the long run.

My Quote from AXA is £650 including wife (for some reason its cheaper with her on????) with 3 Years NCB transferred over from Company insurance.

AXA also let you provide statements from previous company policies as long as their aren't any significant break periods between being insured. ie a gap of a month.. few days/fortnight is fine..

So when my Letter comes through from my errrrrr.. previous, previous company! i will have a total of 6 Years NCB to be able to use on My New AXA policy.. How great is that??

AXA are a insurer that actually seem to be a decent company!!!!!

I've tried swift and they've had a change of policy and no longer do company policy NCB transfers...

Will try admiral and A-Plan as suggested..

    Thanks Clare

Spoke to one of your colleagues over the weekend, AXA for my individual set of circumstances works out a slightly cheaper on this occasion. Will definitely try you again next year to see if that changes, as it was a very pleasant and painless experience getting a quote from your people..

I did the same thing. I had a company car for 13 years and couldn't find anyone to insure me with NCB. That was three years ago, now there are a number of insurance brokers that offer a mirrored NCB for Ex Company Car Drivers. I'm with Keith Michaels but I've heard good things about APlan.

Just renewed mine, starts today with swiftcover, when logging in online i noticed the same layout as my previous online account with AXA i scrolled to the bottom and it actually says Swiftcover is part of the AXA group so i logged back into my AXA account looked at the bottom of their page and it says AXA is part of the Prudential Plc so it would seem alot of these insurers are related in some way so this may help widen your search maybe

When cancelling via phone the admin guy asked who am i now with and how much, i told him and the cost quite smug becuase i was making almost £100 not renewing with AXA he must have been laughing inside knowing swiftcover was part of AXA insurance...lol
