Steve, sorry, I was being sarcastic. I did read it, just didn't think it was worth worrying about.

It's also linked to using weighted shifters with their SS kit. Weighted knobs on standard are fine, they take the notchyness out but they're just not neccessary on the Rouge kit as they've engineered it specifically not to require the weighted knob.

I'm looking into one of these for mine at the moment as i miss the SS kit i had in the iS

FWIW I didn't write the article - I just thought it'd be worth sharing as it's something I hadn't thought about before.. read it/don't read it - makes no odds to me..

i will just stick to using my ac shnitzer one with my hand resting on it as for premature wear surely a gearbox is expected to last 250k so if it only lasts 249 k so be it lol

Oh, oops... I rarely don't rest my hand on the gearknob. I think I'll install that arm rest as soon as it comes in the post...

Arm rest made it worse for me in the e36 lol. I would never rest on the gear knob..... Then i fitted the arm rest. But to be honest, i had a short shifter and weighted knob too so i was really speeding up my wear. Oh well. It's on 210k which can't be bad lol
