Not long ago, I picked up a 2003 318ci SE with really low milage and in mint condition for a small fortune, I've had 2 other BMW's before (both a 4 door 318i) but this one I'm really chuffed with and I think it's worthy of a few mods. I'm thinking of starting with a new exhaust system.
At the moment, I know very little about the exhaust on my car but I have the feeling that the cat (or even the whole system) will be rather restricting so I'm looking into upgreading the whole thing (maybe even the inlet manifold if it wont cost too much) for the sake of a less restrictive system. At the moment I'm just shouting out for a little advice on the type of exhaust I lready have vs. the types of exhaust that are avilable and the benifits a new one will bring. And by benifits I mean perfomance gain rather than noise gain. If it's even going to increase my fuel efficiency a little then that'll be a bonus as my car's a 2.0L and rather heavy on the fuel. Conversly, if increasing the perfomance of the engine means increasing fuel consumption then I'll probably knock the project on the head.
A nice shiny tail pipe and a sexy growel in the high rev's wouldn't go a miss but I'd find pops/bangs and that boy-racer "bwwop" quite repulsive. Any ideas on where to go for an exhaust and what to ask for?
