Hi all I'm thinking of doing a remap on my car, looking at the options available, most of the systems claim to boost bhp and also increase mpg! How is this possible and has anyone had any experiences of using them for this engine? Any recommendations on the systems to use? There are loads on eBay for under £100! Also if I put one on does it effect warranty?
    Do they actually work?!

first of all make sure you use someone who has a good rep, do not buy cheap sh*t of ebay, have a look in the forum venors section and am sure one of the tuning guys will be able to help with good results

It will affect the warranty if discovered, but only for the parts directly involved, ie. a remap won't affect paintwork/ corrosion or any parts that would have zero connection to the tuning. If is something to consider though.
The £100-ish tuning boxes just increase fuel rail pressure, you will get an increase in power, economy may be better, but the onboard consumption gauge will be out of calibration and will underestimate the fuel being added. Those systems won't increase the boost available either.

You will be able to remove a tuning box if the car needs to go in for a service, but you won't get ultimately the same power increases as you would with a remap.
The main point would be that without the extra boost, the car may smoke too much, which could put more strain on the DPF if fitted, and usually it will be backed off until the smoke stops.
