    as above really.
just bought another engine for my E36 and it comes with the ecu,The engine i bought is from a 97 and my car was built in 98 so i think the ecu thats already on my car should work fine with the new engine ? and i have been looking at the kwp2000 diy remap just to play around with.
    What are peoples thoughts

I've never used a KWP2000, but they should work.
You should have features like ID, or get ID which will tell you if it is communicating, and if it can read some data, then if should be OK to read and write.

Not without syncing the EWS, INPA might be able to do that for you, but I'm not 100% sure on it.

Seems really cheap but if it works it works, I would be inclined to have some sort of afr wideband kit with a sniffer clamp and a knock monitor, det cans.
