Hi I have a 2001 BMW 330d m sport with 100k miles I am considering a remap as the low rpm pull is not what I expected pretty flat in fact from 1000-2500 rpm I think I need to check all possible comment faults before I go ahead with a remap.

I will be checking the maf in the morning can anyone help me on location of this.

Also anyone remapped over 100k miles I'm a bit worried about doing it I'm in Stoke on Trent and good guys out there that can check the car is running good before I good ahead with a remap.

Any advice would be very greatfull.

    Thanks

    Luke

There's not much you can see with the MAF, but the mileage isn't anything to be worried about.
The main thing I do before tuning is a fault code check to see is there is anything that could hint at potential problems.
In general I look for turbo or fuel pressure related problems, fuel pressures would be an advisory, and something to expect to have to change soon, turbo problems (such as "control pressure regulation") would suggest that the turbo or actuator hasn't got too much longer to live but so far I haven't come across anything like that yet.

3.0d have in some cases split the intake manifold along a seam between the top and bottom half and that would be something to get sorted beforehand.
It's rare these days, but one of the things that could rain on your parade.

Well, with me it would be a total of £285, with power gains to about 230bhp, 240 if pushed, and 80-100Nm of torque depending on what's wanted.
Diagnostics will come with that too.

If you happen to be passing Birmingham, than the price would drop to £265 if you made it here.

I remapped my old one with 130k, well worth it in my opinion. Coupled with a decat downpipe it was quick on the pick up, smooth and had good power gains. MPG went up by 3mpg as well.

    I'm about on the weekends.
No garage as I often tend to go to the person,
but if you are close it saves the fuel costs of making a specific journey.

50 odd bhp increase?? that sounds a little excessive in gains for a 184 330d?? I would surely say tuning to 230 on that engine is too much and is pushing boundaries??

It'd all depend on your boundaries.
A lot of the diesels these days make more power than they are rated at, 10bhp over is fairly common, although I've seen more, like a standard Civic 140bhp 2.2 iCDTi with 157.

A 150bhp 320d with just a decat pipe made ~178bhp, so it isn't as big an increase as it first seems.

I'd expect you "197" rated 525d to be running at closer to 205 for example.
