Now I guess I save up and go for the full remap - ACE!!
Best thing to do, a proper map is designed for the turbo/injector/engine combo and so gives smooth power without excess wear. The only gotcha is the flywheel, remaps increase torque considerably and the habit with diesels is to "ride the torque" i.e. plonk it in 6th at 50mph and hit the throttle, after a remap you need to get in the habit of changing down and treat it a bit more like a petrol engine. The longer you expose the flywheel to peak torque the more likely it will fail
