Are there any companies offering an obd2 flashloader type tool "thingy" for the n54 engine ecu's? I'm not a fan of the external piggy back units but would like to be able to have the option to switch to different maps if I wanted. Has anyone seen or knows about anyone offering this? I have come across similar products in the past for other car brands but no 135/335/535 so far. My new baby arrives tomorrow and want to get her some sport remap software asap!

I think it may be a piggy back, a regular remap tool can take about an hour to read the ECU!

An hour or so for the initial read, the writing of the ECU doesn't take that long. If something had stored maps made from the original read surely you could just upload the file you want. I've seen this for other cars i was hoping for something similar for my new 1! Grrrr I don't like piggy backs

The flashers can be faster on writing, they can do it by blocks, although I still think it is about 15-25mins.
The first read, they have to read every byte in the file, but on writing, they just have to change the differences over.

I don't think anyone has made a plug in box like a bluefin or powergate that works on those ECUs yet, so I imagine it is very close to an electronic boost controller.

I'd have no issues with a 15-20 min wait to switch maps. A electronic boost controller is basically gonna do the same as a piggy back and send false signal? Please correct me if i am wrong. By the way thanks for your responses so far mate!
