    personally ive never understood why you would want one? if your cars not up to OEM built to run at temp and you open up the cooling system early surely your doing more damage to your engine then good? it would take longer for your car to warm up and how it can work better at hot temps puzzles me unless it allows greater flow of coolent though the thermostat?

    I've never read that the E36 thermostat temperature is an issue.

    Some big power (300 bhp+) E36's go for a higher capacity radiator (more cooling surface area and more coolant) and water pump - but the stock thermostat control is usually kept.

    I think they're selling it as a 'race' part to rinse you of 5x more than you'd usually pay for a thermostat...
