    Hi everyone I've been wondering lately about the best engine to swap into my 2000 e36 318ti se and on an internet search came across the n55 and I was wondering if anyone knows if its possible or how much of a pig it would be to do

    I know its gonna be expensive but I think the end result would be verry interesting

    One of the problems you will be faced with is the cas immobiliser system as it will be looking for signal info from the car the engine came from
    The other may be space where the turbos fit

    I offer the mods for the ecu and wiring diagrams of the m3 e46 mss54 engine
    So these engines are plug and play so it can be fitted e30,e36 or any other cars
    This still works using the original throttle pedal fly by wire system

    It will also work alpha n using the standard intake plenum box or no box at all

    I thought that would be a problem tbh, it was the main reason I asked but I wassn't sure if there was a way round it.

    The mss54 sounds a good idea with a light weight design, good specs and as you say easier to fit so I will definatly look into it.
    I was originally looking into the m3 engines that's how I came accross the n55 searching through nearly all bmws engine specs. Ideally I wanted turbo tho mainly because it would sound like a beast nd go like shit off a shovel

    If you want a turbo m3 then you can use the 3.0i or 3.2 evo engines form the e36

    I have a new turbo kit here for these I was going to sell

    If I'm putting a turbo on a non turbo engine its a lot of hard work tho first is have to uprate internals then fit the turbo to the engine then fit engine in car and get it remapped so my shopping list would look like this:

    Engine - ancillarys = 2000 - 4000
    Uprated shells - fast road cams = 1000 - 2000
    Remap = 800 - 1000

    Then the price the turbo kit

    And it would take at least 3-4 days solid work after getting all components to get it fitted to the car so it would work out cheeper and easier to get an engine that's ready to fit if possible that's why I was looking at the n55 because its already turboed and pushing 300bhp the problem with it is its controlled by too many electrical devices
