anyone know of anyone who has successfully done this!? was thinking that one day might want to swap my m52 for something with a bit more poke!! i imagine that wiring would be the biggest issue being a FBW engine!? no...?

don't really want an M\\\ engine in an non M\\\ car... don't like the ethics really!

    cheers!

fbw will be fine, plenty of standalones that can sort it out. If you have the skill, money and time it'll work
    isn't the n54 in the 1M?

now this is where the little knowledge i have on bmw's becomes worthless!...but i have heard of people putting in a s54 and trying to use the loom from a Z3M, on of the 160 odd that had the s54! (virtually impossible to find)

now i know these are very different engines but surely there must be a link between the e36 based z3 with fbw engine and all that and the newer n54's.... the structure of the management programs can't change that much with every new car bmw produce... can they!? surely it would seem like a good place to start?

as i say i can hardly wire a plug but does common sense and car electronics ever kinda meet in the middle
