Hi not sure if this is in the right place or not!

Ive been using BP Ultimite in my E46 318i Se,since my step son started working for them.Id just like to share my findings so far, with anyone whos interested.

BP say it cleans all the cack out of your engine and a clean engine performs better than a dirty one.

Obviously i didnt expect to chuck a couple of gallons in a have a transformed car.But stepson told me give it 5 or so tank fulls then see what you think.

Well ive been using it non stop for4 months now!

The car is a lot more responsive, fuel economy has increased. On a extra urban run i was getting 47 mpg on supermarket fuel. Now i get about 52 mpg.

Also the engine seems to tic over better! The engine has done 121,000.I use castrol Edge sport oil and she dosnt loose or burn a drop.

In my opinion the BP Ultimate is worth the extra few pence. My car is a lot more lively.

Anyone else tried it? And got any views?

to get more benefits from these fuels with higher octane ratings, you could try a remap
by advancing the ignition timing the engine will produce more power at any given rev point.
you then have the option of using the extra performance for speed or economy gains.
    what i've felt,what i've known
never shined through in what i've shown.

Not being funny but it sounds like the placebo effect to me on a stock 318i!!

Although Bp ultimate is good for high boost turbo cars, makes a world of difference between normal unleaded then

i was thinking exactly along the lines of boostist with the placebo affect.

If your car had done so many miles would a fuel system treatment , such as Redex or similar, give you similar results?

Interesting though if it keeps the new mpg figure long term.

Saying that tho, a few pence more per litre for a 50 litre plus tank soon adds up and end's up negating your mpg savings???

Just MHO - don't mean to pee on yer fire Red

I meant to say, the mpg figures do look very encouraging.

i wonder if its due to a better burn with the higher octane fuel and hence less fuel used?

or maybe if the performance has increased, maybe your using less throttle for the same speed?

    who knows

what i will say with the higher octane fuels in mine is that you get better mpg compared to the lesser fuels when you drive enthusiastically but under normal driving there is no difference, probably because they are designed for "more spirited" driving. That said for the sake of £3 a tank its worth it imo for the cleaning agents alone, regardless of whether you get more bang for your buck.

The car has definently livened up,since using BP Ultimate, definently not my imagination.
Before hand i used to use supermarket super unleaded, which is the same octane as ultimate.

It does seem i dont have to use as much throttle to obtain a set speed, since using ultimate.Maybe my car was very coked up before using ultimate,i dont know?

    Thanks for comments

The BP Ultimate im using is the 97 octane, not the 102 version. When i was using supermarket fuel every other tank ful i had to put reddex fuel system cleaner in as she kept stalling here and there.

Which i pressumed was jets getting blocked??? Since using Ultimate i havent had to do this. This change in performance has taken a while to kick in,eg five full tankfuls.I dont know if the car has been remapped prior to me owning it or not.

All i Know is it goes a lot better than it did! Bp do a load of bumf on there web site showing engine internals n figures etc.

    Many thanks for comments
