    well, if the bore is the same (84mm) through all the range (2.5, 2.8, 3.0), why should the rings be different size?

    One set of rings work on plain, honed, steel and the others on plated, I'd have thought the sealing characteristics were different for the two different materials.

    Doug is correct the rings for nikasil block are different to steel linered block and are not interchangable
    I think that may include the pistons also

    been searching on the fourm and can't find the info im looking for, i have a 1997 e36 328is that i want to turbo, i have been looking online thinking there are lots of 328i turbos but it turns out there all american and have a steel block ? can i buy a e36 325i m50 engine put all my 328 parts into the 325 block then turbo it ? any help would be very much appreciated as i dont want to waste money on something thats not needed !
