does anyone know if an m52 2.8 crank and con rods would fit into a non vanos m50 2.5 engine? i only ask cuz i've heard that the m50 is a stronger engine and the cams / valve springs are better, so would the extra capacity help it create more grunt???

Yes, it will go in. Some early blocks may need a bit of work with a grinder to allow the crank webs to clear but as long as the 2.8 is a single Vanos unit you'll be okay.
Make sure the 2.8 is also a steel liner unit - Nakisil pistons and rings won't be very good in an iron block.
