    Hi,

Has anyone converted to LPG? I have a 330Ci (E46) with 85000 miles on the clock. Advice please on recommended systems, pro's and cons etc?

    Thanks

i got my 740il on LPG,
pro's - seriously cheap, makes driving more enjoyable as you dont worry as much about the fuel price,
get a little cheaper road tax
    no conjestion charge for london
burns at a higher temp and petrol so its kind of better for the engine

con's - takes up some space in the boot
expensive to do (but does make up for it if you own the car for a while)
lpg stations are a bit more rare but most big names are starting to sell it now
does use some petrol when you start up, so dont forget to fill up petrol everyone ones in a while, also add some fuel injector cleaner while your there
lpg solenoid does make a little ticking sound, but we are used to that with vanos so no biggy :P

    hope that helps mate

    Fitted mine myself.

Re: Boot space does your 33O have a spare wheel? I fitted my tank in the spare wheel well and bought a 16" space saver to recover boot space from the spare.

Range: On the donut tank I bought to fit in the spare wheel well I get 200 - 220 miles
Petrol - I put £15 - £20 in every 4 to 5 weeks. That way I am not carrying too much dead weight and the fuel in the tank is regularly changed and I put the same amount of petrol in again when the warning light comes on. If going somewhere strange / outside my LPG range I make sure the OBC shows petrol range aroung 100 - 150 miles as that's fine using it as a reserve to track down a petrolor gas station.

No warranty of any kind implied or given and no liability for any loss, damage or injury, no matter how incurred accepted.

Free Gas Kit* now fitted to free 328*

I think one of the cons will be as soon as so many people have converted the government will see it as another money making scheme and up the price.

    But until then cheap fuel

I'm also looking into this. Can get some pretty good deals on the DIY kits and there's plenty of garages which sell LPG, including the one I use anyway.
