Have you connected the smaller pipe (Dont know what its called!) to the induction kit, just behind and below the mass air flow sensor? And have you set up the accompanying "bendy" pipe so as it funnells cooler air fom the front grill area to your cone? Ive got a 57i fitted too, about 4 months now, without any problems and am quite pleased with the results. Good luck...

Ok I'm new to this site..but I'll throw in my bit.

Induction Kits are simply a waste of time all they do is suck in HOT AIR into the engine bay........the only one that might be any good is one that is positioned well out of the engine bay for example in a inner wing or in a front bumper where lots of cold dense air will enter

Panel Filters are much better......having once watched a programme about a porsche tuning company that only used " CARBON AIRBOXES " because an airbox is a sealed unit there for can be 'pressurised' and therefore gives greater gains ( allbeit small gains ) .

Ask yourself do F1 cars have Induction kits??? NO THEY DO NOT!!
They have a massive scoop on the top of the engine that RAMS COLD AIR into an airbox with a panel filter in it.

Half of these claims that an induction kit will "release 10-15 bhp" is just sheer bullshit in order to get punters to part with their hard earned cash.
And even if there is a induction kit that will give 10-15bhp more ......those figures have been plucked off a engine that is run on a bench...put that 10-15bhp through a drivetrain, and some driveshafts and at the wheels you will be lucky to get 4-5bhp......who of us everyday driver could actually tell the difference in 5bhp ....not many.

So if I decide to get a new filter for my 330d it will of course be a panel filter...and just for the diesel haters out there it would be a panel filter in a petrol too.

anyway thats my bit ...take ya choice pays ya money.

You should get some gain in BHP (and Torque?) by fitting an induction kit, or panel filter. By improving the breathing you should get a gain but it will not be a lot with a normally aspirated engine.
You will get an improvement when it is done as part of a series of improvements, ie it would not be worth fitting a sports exhaust and cams and getting a map if you don't improve the air intake.
