Does anyone have any experience with K&N 57I GEN II Induction Kits?

I am looking for an induction kit for my E46 325Ci and ideally would like a Dave.F kit as these seem to be highly rated, however there doesn't appear to be any of these available at the minute.

From what I can see the K&N kit seems to be pretty similar to the Dave.F kit (including the heat shield), but can anyone with some experience of these point out what the difference is compared to the Dave.F kit?

    Thanks.

Its similar but the Dave-f is the one you want-apparently different sized heat shield or something

Surely someone on here is bound to have a K&N Gen II kit fitted and can offer some opinion on how well it functions ...

As Dave.F kits don't appear to be available for the E46 at the minute (and with no idea when they will be) I need to know if the K&N kit is rubbish and not worth having, or if it is only marginally worse than the Dave.F kit (if indeed worse at all).

I guess I'm just being impatient! I want an induction kit NOW and as the Dave.F kit isn't available at this time I'm trying to decide whether or not to go with the K&N as an alternative.

Thanks in advance for any input,
    Rik

I've searched recently myself and found on a different thread that Dave F only sells through ebay. I found him on there and at the time only E36 kits were available as these kits are made to order I believe I emailed him requesting a price.

I was later told though that as i have not and don't plan to mod the engine I've currenly got that the massively increased airflow could reak havok on my ECU constantly turning the engine management light on??? I'm going for a pipercross panel filter myself untill I upgrade to a bigger engine which I will then stick on a Dave F. A possible remap would then adjust the ECU so it expects the additional airflow.

I don't know if I have had a reply on ebay yet on the E46 version availability as my laptops got PMT and I can't access at work. The E36 one though was up for £165.

Hope this helps. If you do find one for the E46 though can you let me know, cheers mate.
