I have a 318 ci m sport convertable 2004 facelift model - I want to increase acceleration not bothered about top speed. Whats the most cost effective way to do this where it will give me much better acceleration but not break my bank balence??

    Thanks for you help !

A remap will give you a sharper throttle response and a bit more low end power for about £200. Other than that, sell it and buy a 330

    Diff replacement

    smaller wheels/ rolling circumference

    loose some weight

Nitrous oxide, i've just fitted it to my bandit 12 and it REALLY increased acceleration. in fact it the THE most cost effective way to increase acceleration there is. the bonus being that you can transfer it to another car when you sell this one on.

have a word with NOS840 on this site as he Nitrous'd his 840. stay clear of Nitrous Oxide Systems or NOS as you'll know it and only use the best, British system from Wizards of NOS http://www.noswizard.com/ Trevor the boss is VERY helpful and will be pleased to sort you out with a kit.

i'd reccommend a street blaster 150 for starters.
I once owned the greatest BMW ever.

every 1 gallon of fuel (i dont know what that is in liters sorry) adds 8 lbs (again, i dont know what that is in kilograms). So If you want to accelerate fast, keep your fuel about 1/4 full.

In addition to this a recent Audi experiment concluded that every extra 100kg (220lb or 110 litres of fuel) added to the vehicle uses between 0.3 and 0.5 litres of extra fuel over a 100km distance.

Just another bit of useless info!

4.54 litres per gallon and water weighs 1kg per litre although fuel is lighter i think as it floats on top of water.
1996 316i compact m3 Kontour rims. lowered m3 bumper and mirrors and a basic streetbass system

The conversion factor for PETROL is .711 so 1 lt weighs .711kg
Diesel fuel weighs about 7.1 pounds per gallon, so a liter, of which there are 3.8 in a gallon, would weigh about 1.9 pounds.
