im servicing my car on saturday, my friend has ordered all the parts, i own a 1999 bmw 328ci now for a 2.8 v6, it seems very quiet, and i wouldnt mind a bit of a deeper tone from the engine, so obvious choice is something like a K&N cone induction kit but i know there are drawbacks to that, heat, powerloss ect so theres then standard panel filter and doing a cheap trick of drilling a hole in the airbox although this can sometimes be frowned upon, then my friend came across a BMC panel filter which he says is one of the top panel filters for BMW

im just wondering if anyone has one installed or has used these, or abit of knowledge on the pro's and con's of this filter

im not looking for any power gain as i know manufactorers put millions into research to make theirs as good for the car as poss, as with MPG (although if this filter can help with this id be happy)
but im mainly looking for sound.

if anyone has better alternatives to this BMC panel filter id like to know, also videos of bmc filter in use, and lastly is the hole in the airbox as bad as people make out and are there any drawbacks to that? (chavvy i know)

    thanks for the help
any questions im happy to answer

Panel filter is the best bet and I have put a couple of holes in my airbox (underneath so impossible to see unless you take the airbox out and look) which has improved the 'deep' sound. Does yours have a exhaust flap? If so look up E46 golf tee mod on youtube this will also improve sound at lower speeds/rpm around town.

    For info it's a straight six not a V6
