Hi you might be familiar with my circumstances if you have looked in the introduction section, basically someone went into the back of me on the second day of ownership and it is pretty bad the damage sooo coming from a scooby sti i feel there could be a bit more punch to gain from this engine, someobody please enlighten me the best way to get to 300bhp or if its even possible as i will get the work done while the body is getting repaired,,

add a supercharger mate...if you really want too go that far..not sure on the gains..i imagine your well over 200bhp just now being a 3.5ltr...superchargers on engines 3ltr ad over can add upto and over 100bhp too your standard block..expensive business tho...probably lookin at 4k+supplied and fitted...depnding on what your pushin at the moment..even a good re-map..exhaust and top notch induction kit with shield should give you pto 25bhp extra

Yes did have a gander and turbocharging/supercharging but to be honest a good remap like you mentioned, filter, exhaust is exactly what it needs I think.

To be spending 4k + on a kit like that I think I would be better just getting a e39 m5 as these can be had than less than 10k now and are a much much better starting block...( or finishing as they are plenty powerful enough standard?...)

    Highly unlikey from the petrol.

Blowing it would be the only way. The 4.4 puts out just 286 out of the box.

I'd say go for a remap, take a look at which one offers the most gains if thats what you are after and leave it at that. I would not bother with induction and exhausts, no gains and lots of money so not worth it.

You'll not get 300bhp from it unless you start spending big money on it, hence get a remap, money well spent, you'll have that extra edge and leave it at that.

A lot of money for very little gains on an N/A petrol.

A filter and a pipe would probably give more than a remap.

i've been in a couple of remapped BMWs and they were noticeable and whilst the gains were minimal being NA engines, there was a a more sharper response on the throttle, smoother power curve with that little extra torque and power as the revs climb round.

from my experience bolt on filters and exhausts alone are not worth anything except looks and noise.... just IMO....

Well I thought getting filter and exhaust then the remap should respond better and you would see a better gain?.. Just a thought.
