I took my EGR valve off my car today expecting some huge blocked up mess but was shocked that it was pretty clean in comparison to some pics of them on here. So god knows why my car is smoking ?

I been looking around and saw you can get a EGR bypass valve, anyone know if this is worth getting and what the gains of doing such a upgrade are?

As Alan says Gaz, remove and block vac pipe, golf tees a good fit, put tape over male vac pipe connector on EGR and cable tie vac pipe to it.

Has your oil separator been changed as a clogged one can cause smoking?

I havent a clue about oil separator!! Or is that part of the Oil breather filter? If so I am replacing once I get the correct part next week!

Will that make the car perform any better/smoke less

Yep thats the one, I'm sure it'll be clogged up with manky oil should help reduce smoking won't perform any better
but will stop excessive pressure building up on Turbo.

Well I took the breather filter out the other day to fit one I had (turned out wrong part) and it was pretty clogged up with oily sludge!

Think ill take it easy on the throttle till I fit filter!
