Hey guys. Wanting help here. I have a 2004 320d built in june. Wanting to make a little faster rather then buy a new car as I love what I got.

No1 do I have the vortex breather type valve? Do I need it?
No2 do I Have swirl flaps? Do I need to remove?
No3 does a remap kick loads of smoke out the back?
No4 any other mods I can do? Also can u get a cheap md523 turbocharger anywhere and does this just bolt on?

All help and info will be very much appreciated.

    Thanks people

If you haven't got a vortex type, it is worthwhile fitting one, you might need to check first.
You will have swirl flaps, removal avoids the small risk of your engine being destroyed. Not everyone removes them, but if one falls off, you'll be in trouble.
I think at your build date, you might have had a more resilient design.
A remap doesn't have to kick smoke out, that's optional.
A decat is another nice mod that isn't too hard, as long as next year's MOT is OK with it.

Thanks for the info. Do you happen to know what size swirl flap plates I will need.
What sort of power will I gain with the remap any ideas? Thanks

I don't know off hand what sizes they'll be, I'd have presumed the smaller size (and I think someone should be able to tell you) but here-
    http://shop.sparkesandnoise.bttrades.../dp/B004O3SC0E

seems to think it might be pot luck

" There doesn't seem to be any rule as to which are fitted on particular engines or models (although pre '04 cars seem to generally be the smaller size, but not always) so you may need to order a set of both sizes, the unused set will be refunded if returned in good order by recorded delivery."

As for a remap, over 190bhp can be seen.

i just removed the swirl flaps in my oct 2004 320d and it had the smaller size flaps fitted, most places that sell them will allow you to buy both sizes and return the unused ones.

I decided to go ahead with the work so can anyone shed any help on what I need and some threads with help please. I need help on the following work. I plan to change breather valve. Remove swirl flaps and do something with the egr valve. Would u recommend to do egr bypass or just give the original a good clean? Thanks again in advance
