I've managed to get hold of what may be one of the last few Simota induction kits in the UK at the moment.

It's fitted, and all I can say is "WOW!". It sounds bloody amazing - it hisses, howls, whoops and generally makes all sorts of interesting noises. I wound down the windows, dropped into second and nailed it through a tunnel this afternoon and it sounded like a bona fide supercar.

No greatly noticable increase in power, but the throttle response does seem a bit sharper, although this may be a false impression arising out of the increased noise. I do think, however, that the air the Simota intake gathers is probably colder than that gathered by the OE intake.

    How do I know this?

    1. For the moment, part of the OE intake (the front bit) is still fitted, but not connected. That square pipe that runs over the top of the radiator is absolutely scorching, and the air inside it is noticably hotter than the air inside the Simota intake (which takes its air from just behind and below the headlight area).

    2. The outside of the Simota intake is much cooler to the touch than the OE pipe.

    3. The Simota is made of much thicker material than the OE intake, and therefore insulates the air inside it from the heat of the radiator more efficiently than the OE intake.

I reckon that a bit of heat shielding where the Simota intake "bucket" sits near to the rad, and some tubing bringing extra cold air into the vicinity would make even more difference.

    Just my twopenn'orth....

Thanks for the heads up pointing me in the direction of this product.
