    also look into the e60 short shift, can dig out a part number somewhere

    for about $65 and it was the best money I spent on this car. It reduced the throw about 40% and no more mile long shifts. All I want now is a ZHP weighted shift knob.
    You can also go to extreme and install bent Z3M shift lever which reduces the throw about 55% but IMO it'll be very notchy and too much force would be needed to shift. Or install Z3 1.9 lever (25 11 1 434 148) to achieve about 30% decrease in throw.

    I got this on my car, its great, easy to fit, very short throw.
    only downside, reverse is stiff to engage, but thats o my 328,you may not have that problem.

    the 328 lever will rub on the propshaft in second gear, i know, i put my old one on the missus's 316
