Hi everyone, new poster here! And already I'm picking your brains....
The back right of my 316i was sitting low, and I came to the conclusion it was a cracked spring(a common thing it seems). Anyway I picked up a second hand set of 4 BMW sports springs, and on one of the rear ones the powder coat has come completely flaked off at one end. It has a fair bit of surface rust now. They came off of a 328 with about 150k on the clock. All the others look in perfect condition.
I was wondering what you guys thought as to whether it's still usable? I've heard various opinions looking around this forum already; some say it wouldn't be a factor in if spring could crack, and that you see springs with surface rust all the time. Others say it would be something to keep an eye out for to prevent
Also would it make a difference to the springs potential life that I'm fitting it to a lighter car than it was on before(4cyl vs 6)?
Any advice much appreciated
EDIT: This is in the wrong forum isn't it :/ could it be moved, cheers.
