Hi to all. Im fairly new to this fourm so bare with me haha.
currently have a 1997 e36 318i (hellaflush, welded diff ) soon to be my daily after 6 months of it being my project.

but now for my next project want a bmw either e36 or e46 (preferably e46 but electrics an issues here??) to run some serious bhp figures in the 600-800bhp ballpark, now is this too far fetched for a bmw engine from non m's i.e m62/m60 v8 swaps? this is the engine im looking at to swap, are they forged pistons etc can they handle that power any help would be much appreciated!

    option 2
i would happily run 400hp from one of the 6 pots i think iv seen that figure achieved on the net here. would twin turbo work? single enough etc?

basically to sum up whats the most power i can get from these types of engines, my budget is tight so this would be a long project hence the engine choices. any help would be great thanks!

If your on a budget forget 800hp, and if you need to ask questions about how to get that sort of power then forget it, not trying to be a knob but you could end up wasting a whole bunch of money, any engine producing that much power will not be done on the cheap nor will the maintence to keep it sweet.

Want to spend as little as possible as we all do but would buy turbos etc, this project wont have to be done soon so i can take my time and save for new bits and pieces
hoping to get engine + box and loom + all ancillaries for under 1k, then bolt on's (turbos) mapped exhaust etc

Totally agree, however deep your pockets are that is the amount of BHP you can have... Oh and for it to work and work well.

Aye am indeed, rebuilding the whole car before she goes in though.

As most people money has been holding me back :( should start moving on well now a few things are sorted!

You will be needing some serious cash for your work mate, I am expecting to spend 10-15K on mine..... It will probs end up doubling though!

That should literal fly haha, love the supra engines but don't like the look of the car, that is like my ultimate car, e36 with a bad-ass supra engine under the hood!

so do you know if i could squeeze 400hp out an e36 325i/328i block with a turbo and good mapping?
