    FILTER.JPG

    Hi There,

My car is fitted with an aftermarket induction / cone air filter (see attached)

It looks pretty dirty so I want to clean it BUT I think it needs to be soaked in something, dried then lightly oiled.

    A few questions

    1) Ive heard the oil can interfere with the MAF meter
    2) Does the filter give any more power anyway - Ive read that top end it might but Ill be losing bottom end
    3) Should I go back to a standard filter and box etc ?

What do you think ? Not really one for mods but will probably be going for the M50 manifold conversion.

    Jamie

If you've had it on for a while, swap to the original airbox and you should notice the difference!
It's a cheap cone, and the mounting directly onto the MAF isn't great either.

As above. If you want the best from a cone then you need a heatshield and at least 6inches of straight pipe between the cone and the MAF. Other wise you will only have the sound but will be losing HP. A standard airbox is better than what you have on at the moment
