Quick question, how strong are the internals on the E36 325tds?

I currently have a 325i but can imagine a 325tds to be fairly strong with a monster turbo on and lots and lots of torque.

Just wondering what they are good for without major work.

Thanks in advance for any input

This is just something making my brain think guys, doesn't mean im going derv before I get petrol gang rapped!

i had the 325td, did over 240,000 and would be still working today if it was not wrote of last year, took the engine apart, looked brand new, now score marks on the internal parts which was 115 BHp

if you get the 325tds this has 143bhp

I'd think the diesels would be on par or even stronger than the petrol equivalent.

Petrol 2.5's can take 500-600bhp on standard internals i've heard so on a diesel this should be no problem IMO. increase the boost and chip it

Ah cheers guys, that link above is a bit tame.

Looking for something around 300bhp. Just wondering if there is enough space for a holset hx40 where the original turbo is?

Just haven't heard enough about these engines!

There a few videos on YouTube of tuned up ones. Think to achieve 300hp you'd need to change injectors and fuel pump for more fuel flow?

Yeh thats not a problem. I have a 325i compact and have started the whole turbo conversion thing but I want either a 325 tds or 328I sport coupe.
