Right guys, currently in the process of collecting parts etc for my turbo project. I have done a lot of research into tuning but if I'm honest I'm stuck on what to do!

My setup targets are a turbo a tad larger than the garrett gt30, got an evo huge fmic, then obviously the usual stuff like the walbro pump and 42lb injectors. Target is around 350 whp.

    Options I'm guessing are:
Custom map + lots of other fiddling on
    Gotech pro -
    Megasquirt 2.

Not sure if anyone on here has tried any of the following. I'm new to tuning and don't have a clue what to do. So if anyone knows anyone in the north east of england who could help that would be great!

    Thanks guys

    Jack

I've never worked with megasquirt, so I can't be any help in this case.

I was hoping you may have an input into this.

What alternatives are there for standalone? I've researched but only seem to be finding stuff on megasquirt and gotech pro.

I've contacted my local tuning shop but haven't had a reply yet:

There are plenty of standalone ecu's out there. The best way to go would be to go to the shop that will be tuning your car (preferably a shop that has tuned m50/2 engines before) and see what they'd recommend. After all they are doing all the work and you don't want to make it hard for them by using a foreign standalone.
motec, link, Aem, microtech, haltech are some examples of standalones

Megasquirt might be an idea as it's been used for what you are trying to do and has a good user community.

It's a really specialist project so you're going to have to travel. The tuner I'd recommend would be Ant whose a general BMW guru and megasquirt expert. http://www.fastbimmer.co.uk/

Anyone tried or have any experience with the Millers WAR chip? Cheap as chips with a basic map sent from the US for £250 ish.

Yeah, they only work with certain UK cars. I know someone selling one if they do support the M50.

I've looked online and they support the 403 non vanos ecu which I have.

They are only £270 delivered to the uk and that's including the basic map as an extra and delivery!
